Beats by Dre & Moments of Grace

Only a few days ago I had tried out (finally) this awesome piece of technology; the heavily marketed Beats by Dre Studio Headphones. Thanks to a good friend of mine I was able to put a nice white pair of these sound amplifiers on, you know, just for a go. So I put them on with a song playing and as it cancelled out all noise and sound that was previously there and left me with just the pure sound of the music I was listening to, I just couldn’t help but smile and bob my head. I thought I was in a totally different place. If I closed my eyes and became open to the beauty of the music (I think I actually did that at some point), the sound and the detail that these headphones allowed me to hear, I could’ve easily forgotten where I was, or the tasks I had to complete, certain pressures put on me by other people or groups, my slight hunger for food at that moment, and anything else I was thinking about for that matter. It was just me and the flawless sound of music! It was awesome. So radical and unexpected was the effect that for me, it was just all so exciting and despite previous scepticism about what I always thought was just an overly priced marketing drive of a product… right then and there, I was convinced. Beats by Dre man… it’s ‘legit’.

So the next few days, as you would in excitement (or moments of procrastination) I popped ‘Beats by Dre’ in Google (even made it rain headphones on Google Gravity), watched a few vids, looked at a few pictures and sure, learnt a bit about it. Over the next few days I myself appreciating music a little but more, or at least the different sounds and patterns of beats, different styles, the quality of recordings, etc. It even took my imagination into a place where I was… wait for it…dancing (and if you know me, you know that my ‘interest’ for dance is dying, dead or at least in a deep sleep).

Anyway, today a different friend of mine posted a video on my Facebook that helped my thought process string some things together. (Praise God for friends… He truly does use other people to get to us at times, but perhaps that’s another post…).

Video: God’ Chisel (Re-mastered)

Okay so, sure I’ve seen the older version of this video many times before and know the script fairly well, but I gave it a go, watched the remastered version and realised something by the time it had finished. After forgetting for a bit where I was, my worries, my concerns, my complaints about life… I realised, it was just me and God and the beauty of His Love, Plan, Perfection and Promise, a moment so real and that left me in awe. This reminded me of what is genuine and what matters and what will matter at the end.

Life is not life at all if not with God and for God. How I can easily forget this, and repeatedly at that, even if it’s for a day, an hour, a month, ten years… somewhere it is forgotten. But moments of Grace remind us, if the heart is open.

Will.I.Am talks about how funny it is that they spend so much time tweaking and recording and perfecting a song, using so many tools, controls, time and effort, for the song to only reach the ears of only a few people sounding as good as it was made to be… but thank God for Beats by Dre!

and…

Thank God for moments of Grace and for our faith. For God’s Love and His perfect plan is too beautiful for only just a few people to see and experience.

When it comes to ‘sound of Faith and Love’, there are some people out there with crap headphones thinking they are ‘tone deaf’ or thinking it’s sounding as good as it will get… let’s be their Beats and spread the love.

Be the headphones. Let God’s Grace be the music.

It’s not like one can go, “I won’t mess with the devil so surely he won’t mess with me” right?… wrong.

Be vigilant, and do something for the Good, for the Truth.

“Discipline yourselves; keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.”
